Dormidina
sleeping tablets
Dormidina is a
sleep tablet that is available over the counter in some
countries in Europe. Its main use is as an aid in the treatment
of short term insomnia. However it can also be used as an
antihistamine in the treatment of hay fever and other
allergies.
The dosage per tablet
(25mg) is much higher than that of Zopiclone, Limovan or
Amoban (7.5mg).
It is taken orally and care
must be taken to follow the instructions on the label. If you
have missed your medication do not double up on these tablets
to catch up on your treatment as the high dosage of these
tablets can cause health problems if abused. If you have taken
Dormidina for any longer than 2 weeks in the treatment of
insomnia you must consult your local GP or
physician.
Side effects that may occur
with Dormidina are:
• agitation, nervousness,
excitability, not able to sleep (these are more likely in
children)
• blurred vision
• dizziness or fainting spells
• irregular heartbeat, palpitations, or chest pain
• muscle or facial twitches
• pain or difficulty passing urine
• seizures (convulsions)
If you experience any of these side effects it is
advisable to cease the use of these tablets and consult your GP
or physician for advice on treatment.
Less severe issues like feeling dizzy,
blurred vision, balance problems, co-ordination can cause
problems during use of shortly after waking up from sleep where
Dormidina was used as an aid. It is important with Dormidina
that you do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or attempt to
care for others in a professional manner until you have used
Dormidina and understand the effect it has on you both during
and after the use of this medication.
